Thanks to everyone who attended our 2024-2025 season. We started the Fall 2024 Season with a reading by Padma Viswanathan from her debut novel The Charterhouse of Padma. We also supported “A Trans-Creation Reading in Solidarities between Turtle Island and Palestine,” an event arranged by Alexei Perry Cox.

In November we hosted the incredible Alexis Pauline Gumbs introduced and in conversation with McGill Professor Amber Rose Johnson.

In November we offered a masterclass on performance and voice with Governor General Award winning poet and Concordia Alumnus Oana Avasilichioaei.

In December, we hosted a reading to celebrate Brick Magazine. Speakers included Kyo Maclear and Lucy Ives. Special guest host Madeleine Thien was unable to make it so Brick editor Laurie Graham stepped in for an evening of transporting work.

In January Writers Read supported the launch of Soliloquies featuring readings by Sarah Gilbert and Sean Michaels.

On March 5th at 4th Space we hosted Concordia students Gladwell Pamba, Emma Moss Brender, Lena Palacios, Sabrina Papandrea, Nicky Taylor, Alana Dunlop, Sabyah, Seyam, and Ciku Gitonga. After lunch we heard from Concordia Faculty Stephanie Bolster and Gillan Sze, with recent alumni Emilie Lafleur, Bridget Huh and Faith Pare.

This spring we also inaugurated our weekly Lunch Hour reading series. Our inaugural event featured poet Kaie Kellough. Student readers included Tamsyn, Rachael, Lily, Sasha and Gloriah.

Please subscribe to this blog for updates or follow us on our Instagram for updates. We’ll begin the year with a Student & Faculty reading on September 4th. Our weekly reading series will take place Thursdays from 12-1 throughout the 2025-2026 academic year. Venue to be announced. Our noon hour reading will feature a variety of themes that students and members of our literary community will be able to take part. We are also open to queries from writers passing through Montreal, and alumni with recent publications. Lunch Hour readings will take place in a variety of venues on campus.

Stay tuned! We have a lot of surprises in the works for the coming year including an evening with Billy Ray Belcourt on October 6. Save the date!
