March Madness: Three Announcements

Writers Read is happy to announce the details of three (three!) upcoming events.

On Friday, March 6 we have Professor, author and editor Anne Jamison who will be joining us at 4 pm in Room LB 646. Anne Jamison is Associate Professor of English at the University of Utah.  She is author of Fic: Why FanFiction is Taking Over the World (Smart Pop Books, 2013), Poetics en Passant (Palgrave, 2010), Kafka’s Other Prague, a forthcoming book on Franz Kafka and Czech culture, and a number of articles. She also writes young adult fiction.

Then, the following week, Friday March 13 we have BOTH Tim Cresswell and Lynn Coady. The busy day begins at 11 am, when Lynn Coady will hold a masterclass in Room LB 646. Spots for this event are limited, and a sign up sheet will be posted outside Prof Queyras’ door (LB 674-2).

We’ll meet up again 2 pm in Room LB 646, for a reading and talk with poet and geographer Tim Cresswell.

That evening at 7 pm, Lynn Coady will be back for a reading in the De Seve cinema. Writers Read is so excited for this event we’ll be gifting two lucky attendees with a free, signed copy of one of Lynn’s bestsellers.

Lynn Coady is a Canadian writer, editor, playwright and journalist.  Her first book, Strange Heaven, published in 1998, was shortlisted for the Governor General’s Award, and her novel The Antagonist was shortlisted for the 2011 Scotiabank Giller Prize. In 2013, Coady was the recipient of the Giller Prize for her short story collection Hellgoing.

 Tim Cresswell is a geographer and poet who has been widely published in poetry magazines in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the USA and Canada including: The Moth, the Rialto, the North, Poetry Wales, Agenda,​ Riddlefence and On Site Review. His first collection, Soil, was published by Penned in the Margins (London) in July 2013. His second poetry book – a book-length sequence set in Svalbard calledFence is being published by Penned in the Margins in 2015. He is also the author of five books on the themes of place and mobility including, most recently, Place: An Introduction.
